About Angelique Gaston, RN, VA-BC
Angelique Gaston has been a critical care nurse for 18 years and has pursued her passion for vascular access for the past 7 years. She is a proud member of AVA and MIVAN. Together with her team, she has formed a successful dual function Vascular Access/ Rapid Response Team. This dynamic team works collegially and collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams, placing various vascular access devices including: ultrasound guided PIVs, midlines, PICC lines, central lines, temporary dialysis catheters, IO’s, and arterial lines. This specialized team provides a comprehensive approach that provides rapid assessment and safer placement of vascular access devices. The services provided by this specialized team has been instrumental in decreasing CLABSIs and vascular access device complications, decreasing wait times for catheter placement, decreasing number of insertion attempts, as well as, increasing patient satisfaction and vascular education throughout the institution. Angelique and her team members, are among the first non mid-level providers in Michigan, to be credentialed for inserting central lines, arterial lines, and temporary dialysis catheters. Her goal is always to provide the highest quality patient care, while encouraging other healthcare professionals to encompass Vascular Access as the specialty that it is.
