As a tumultuous 2020 ends, we would like to thank you for being part of the Eloquest Healthcare Blog! We hope you have found our posts both informative and impactful to your professional career.
We kicked off the year with an often overlooked topic – burnout in the Nursing profession. Remaining true as we close out the year, it’s important to know and recognize the signs of burnout, build your support system, stick to the protocols, schedule “me time”, get organized, and fight negativity. With COVID-19 creating an increasingly stressful work environment, we also welcomed guest author Mark Freier who provided tools for Coping with Compassion: Expert Advice for Managing Stress and Exhaustion. Our final blog on burnout this year was a Q&A featuring Terri and Rob Bogue, authors of “Extinguishing Burnout,” and focused on extinguishing the burnout caused by COVID-19.
Our “3 Questions with…” vlog series continues to be a fan favorite! This year we had the opportunity to interview a wide variety of the finest thought leaders in healthcare specialties such as Infection Prevention, Vascular Access, Surgical Care and more. We ask each guest three questions, “What inspires you most in your role? What current clinical issues are underappreciated, and finally what solutions do you recommend for hospital-acquired infections (HAIs)?”. Some of our most viewed include: Kathleen Vollman MSN, RN, CCNS, FCCM, FAAN, Lee Steere, RN, CRNI, VA-BC, and Maureen Spencer, RN, M.Ed., CIC! Never miss a new release by subscribing here.
It was a great year for virtual education opportunities! Eloquest Healthcare was able to offer five educational webinars with some offering free CEs. With each educational webinar we take the time to summarize the important data points on the blog. This year we summarized webinars on preventing surgical site infections (SSIs), vascular access dressing adherence, and applying Lean thinking in the application of a catheter success bundle with the goal of 1 patient, 1 IV catheter insertion with 1 attempt. You can access all of our educational webinars here.
This year we dove into the patient experience and partnered with MightyWell, a patient advocacy group and growing line of medical accessories that put strength, confidence, and mobility back into the toolkit for patients. Our series, “Stories with the Community”, focused on three women. First was MightyWell founder, Emily Levy: Lyme disease, POTS, CIDP, and Hashimoto’s Warrior followed by Isabelle Edwards: Type 2 Diabetes & Gastroperisis Warrior, and finally Swapna Kakani: Short Bowel Syndrome Warrior. Each part of the series takes a look at the lives, challenges and successes as a patient and advocate.
Looking forward to 2021, we are excited to share and react to the changes and improvements taking place in the realms of hospital quality, patient safety, and HAI reduction!
