Eloquest Healthcare®, Inc. Donates Monies for New Nintendo DS Personal Game Systems to Cardon Children’s Medical Center

(6/10/2010)

For Immediate Release:

Ferndale, Michigan/Mesa, Arizona – Eloquest Healthcare, Inc., a specialty company that focuses on improving dermal outcomes to the acute care market, is proud to announce that it has donated $2,000.00 to Cardon Children’s Medical Center (CCMC), in Mesa, Arizona.  The Eloquest gift was used to purchase new Nintendo DS personal game systems that enable the Child Life Specialist team to engage pediatric patients by helping them feel comfortable and less anxious while waiting to see physicians or waiting for a procedure to begin.

Cardon Children’s Medical Center—the newest facility in the Banner Health portfolio of hospitals—depends on the expertise their Child Life Specialists to help make their facility as child-friendly as possible as they strive to make their pediatric patient’s visits as comfortable as possible.  These nationally known  specialists provide support to families in the way of general information, medical preparation and education using medical and therapeutic play to help children understand what will happen at the hospital. They provide just the right amount of information, based on a child’s age, to lessen a child’s fears about his/her upcoming experiences.  The Nintendo DS systems and games are just one of many tools that enable these folks to gain trust from and give comfort to their patients as they wait.

“We are so grateful to Eloquest for this wonderfully thoughtful donation,” says Sue Eaton, ChildLife, Senior Manager at Cardon Children’s Medical Center.  “While the reasons for our patients’ visits may differ greatly, one common denominator is that almost all of them know how to play video games,” laughs Eaton.  “Hospitals can be overwhelming for children, and having something to occupy their hands and minds for long periods of time, such as playing Nintendo DS games, is a fabulous and fun form of distraction.”

“Eloquest prides itself on being known as the healthcaring company,” says Tim O’Halla, Vice President and Chief Operating Officer, Eloquest Healthcare, Inc.  “Our mission is to provide healthcare professionals, patients, and our business partners with valued and trusted services, specialized products, and expertise that engender compassionate care,” adds O’Halla.

“Our compassion is not only related to the use of our products, rather, it extends to patient experiences in their entirety.  Therefore, it is very fitting that our donation to CCMC will be used to purchase Nintendo DS game systems, which will comfort many of their pediatric patients during their visits to CCMC in the years to come,” says Crysta Seneski, Associate Director of Marketing, Eloquest Healthcare, Inc.
