Ferndale, Michigan (October 06, 2009) – Eloquest Healthcare®, Inc., a dermatology specialty company that focuses on improving dermal outcomes for the acute care market, has announced the donation of a large, wooden 3-story doll house, a second, smaller wooden doll house, two full sets of dollhouse furniture, and a dollhouse family, to the Child Life Services department of the Children’s Hospital of Michigan.

Deanna Scanlon, Child Life Project Specialist at the hospital thanked Timothy P. O’Halla, Eloquest Healthcare® Chief Operating Officer, stating, “Generous gifts-in-kind such as yours help ease the tension and anxiety children may feel while in the hospital and may allow them to be more comfortable in an unfamiliar environment.  Because of you and other caring members of the community, we have the resources needed to meet the physical and psycho-social needs of our patients.”

The dollhouses were built August 5, 2009, by Eloquest Healthcare field representatives during a team building exercise at a recent meeting in downtown Detroit.  In keeping with the company’s mission to provide healthcare professionals and their patients with valued and trusted service, specialized products, and leadership that engenders compassionate care, the company donated the dollhouses one day later, on August 6th.

Ms. Scanlon said the two dollhouses, all the furniture, and the miniature wooden dollhouse family figurines would grace the Child Life inpatient playroom.  Child Life Services at the hospital works as part of a comprehensive health care team to provide interventions and activities to alleviate the stress and anxiety of a hospital stay for patients and families.  The technique of “distraction” involves using toys or age-appropriate activities that stimulate the patient so that they are not focused on the procedure or pain.

Mr. O’Halla said of the donation, “Our success must be measured by more than sales figures.  Our true objective is to help our customers achieve their goals in the care of their patients while elevating the caring aspect of healthcare -- for patients, healthcare providers, ourselves, and the communities we serve.  We are proud to support that ideal with worthwhile projects such as this.”

Crysta Seneski, Associate Director of Marketing at Eloquest Healthcare®, noted the pride and laughter that filled the room as the group built the dollhouses, knowing all the while the fruits of their labor would help children find some comfort during a difficult time.  “Every member of the team wanted to be present as we delivered the dollhouses to the hospital, to experience the moment, to see the looks on the faces of the hospital staffers.  It is extremely rewarding to work with people who care so much about helping others.”
